'A Day In The Wetlands'
A handwritten story by her mother,
Maud S. Parker
A Louisiana Native she grew up listening to stories of the bayou and taking swamp tours at Jean Lafitte Park with her mom and children.
Her work across many disciplines broadly addresses narratives of the wetlands experience and she published this book to honor her mother's legacy.
This story will inspire young minds and bring healing to the soul for individuals, families, and communities.

Maud S. Parker
With over a decade of writing short stories, comic strips, cookbooks, and obituaries for the local paper, Maud was a uniquely wry voice that shines through her latest work 'A Day In The Wetlands', a children's story she wrote 25 years ago for her grandchildren emphasizing the importance we place on family, legacy, and letting the good times roll!
Maud has been a lifelong writer and first began creating other worlds and characters since the third grade.
An artist, painter, writer, poet, nurse, seamstress, crocheter, wife, AND mother of eleven children, grandmother of twenty grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, she grew up in the 2nd Ward, called The Irish Channel, then moved to the St. Bernard Housing Project with her family, the late Alfred Smith, Sr. and Louise MacFloyd Smith and siblings.
Her love for jazz, blues, and classical music, nature, especially the bayou, is a story told through her eyes since her childhood.
